Conde Nast Traveller reminds us about the depth of pleasure that can be found when staying in Croatia villas with private pool.

It describes Croatia as having a seemingly endless coastline with fabulous beaches, culture, water sports, adrenalin sports, nature, and exceptional dining.

Coastline

The fringe of each of the 1,000 plus islands, added to the long Adriatic coastline, gives everyone ample beach space, be it a child-friendly Croatia beach with inflatables or a hidden beach to yourself. Be reassured that the bathing water quality will be excellent!

Water sports

Given the long coastline, water sport opportunities are everywhere. Most sea edge settlements have kayaks and SUPs for rent. Some have PWCs (jet-ski) and diving. Fishing is a popular pastime for locals, and if you ask around, you’ll find someone to take you out to catch a treat for the BBQ! There are also the more extreme-level fishing boats that run trips.

Where the wind is right, windsurfing and kite surfing are popular. The channel area between Korcula island and Orebic, and also off the famous Zlatni Rat beach on Brac island, are well-known spots where the conditions for these sports are perfect.

Kayaking is a grand way to experience stunning views of the coast and tours are often available with a professional guide. How about tackling the rapids on the Cetina River by Omis, near Split? Or perhaps canyoning is more your thing, or zip wire exhilaration, both available into and over the gorge.

Land-based adrenalin rushes

If you are looking for more adrenalin rushes from your Croatia villa, but on land this time, how about taking in one of the adrenalin parks up and down the coast, like Cadmos village? Or maybe one of the Istrian water parks, like Aquacolors. Maybe the Dubrovnik Cable car giving another perspective of the old town will suffice. This takes you up to the top of Srd hill overlooking the town. Why not book a table at the top at the panorama restaurant. The views are stunning and the sunsets sublime.

Getting in touch with nature

All of these activities will bring you in touch with nature, but it is also possible to explore amazing wild places like the Velebit mountain range. It is currently being considered by UNESCO for its World Heritage List based on the area’s karst landscape and habitats, scarce flora, and archaeology. Trips to islands give different perspectives and opportunities to see renowned locally produced foods (Pag cheese for example). Less energy is needed in an excursion to the amazing Krka waterfalls National Park.

Cycling is popular. This can be teamed up with visits to vineries, and traditional food producers and restaurants (for example in Konavle).

Restaurants

If you love your food then Croatia has 10 Michelin star restaurants, but Conde Nast reminds us that local fare in Croatia restaurants is usually good value and full of flavour. Reasonable prices allow the traveller to experience delicious local dishes made with organic local produce. And locally produced wines will surprise you with their quality.

Cultural sights are everywhere!

Cultural sights are everywhere and within easy reach of every Croatia villa location. There are the amazing well-known honeypots of Dubrovnik and Split old towns, but venture further for quieter, stunning architecture. Roman-influenced Pula in Istria, stunning medieval Trogir old town, the amazing cathedral at Sibenik, lovely Cavtat…. Or maybe you are into archaeology – try the Stari Grad Plain on Hvar, the roman ruins of Salona at Solin. Venture to beautiful Mostar with its rebuilt medieval bridge.

The beauty of staying in Croatia villas with private pool means that you have your own base from where to plan your excursions. Take it easy one day and then explore the next.
