Asparagus Festival
Lovran, 13th – 27th April 2019: The arrival of Spring in Croatia heralds the first wild asparagus and nowhere is it more welcome than Lovran in Istria. For two weeks you can sample differently prepared asparagus dishes presented by local restaurants and bars, whilst enjoying live music. To start the festival off, a huge Frittata is made using 550lbs of wild asparagus and 1000 eggs in a specially made 2m wide pan. High in Vitamin E, it is highly regarded as one of the healthiest of vegetables – good for your heart and at fighting cholesterol and was also once considered an aphrodisiac.
