HVAR TOWN FORTRESS

It’s a bit of a climb but if you are up for the hike, the views from the fortress which overlooks Hvar Town and the Pakleni Islands are pretty stupendous so it’s worth the walk – Built during the era of the Venetian empire, a visit to the fortress makes for an interesting look back at the history of that period and prior – There has been a fort here since 2000 years ago during the Illyrian time and subsequent civilisations have added to it.

PAKLENI ISLANDS

The Pakleni Islands sit temptingly and seductively just off the coast of Hvar Town and are bliss for a day’s escape to swim and sunbathe and to escape the buzz of Hvar town itself – Apart from making a lovely retreat, the islands are also interesting to wander around – There are various islands to chose from… Bohemian Palmizana is one of the islands – owned by the Mengello family, it is filled with exotic plants and flowers, with lovely beaches at Palmizana and Perna.
