Cavtat is a Short Taxi or Uber Transfer from Dubrovnik Airport
It’s an easy and quick 10 minute transfer from Dubrovnik airport and 20 minutes drive from Dubrovnik Old Town, so a real benefit if you’ve had a long journey or are travelling with children. Apart from being beautifully scenic, the area has something for everyone and is a great alternative to staying in Dubrovnik itself.
Cavtat’s historic old town is well worth a visit
Cavtat has a beautiful little old town made up of winding streets, lovely old buildings and churches, and some grand houses. The enviable waterfront has a host of restaurants, cafes and little shops – make sure you find the ice cream shop during your stay!
Cavtat is a very walkable place
The area around the old town of Cavtat, together with lovely walks around the headlands and along the shoreline make for lovely level walks. Find charming little bays and beaches, delightful cafes and restaurants, and local businesses. However, as with many parts of the Dubrovnik riviera the topography means that the land rises up towards the higher land and the main road to Dubrovnik. Taxis, water taxis and buses serve Cavtat, so it is a very accessible place.
Enjoy the variety of activities to do in Cavtat
There is something for all ages in lovely Cavtat. There’s usually a waterpark with inflatables, sea kayaking, and a dive club. Additionally there is boat hire and skippered excursion boats to the Elafiti Islands (for example a 3 Islands Cruise, Fish Picnic), regular and frequent water taxis into Dubrovnik Old Town harbour and villages along the coast, tennis courts, walking, mountain biking, wake-boarding, water-skiing, swimming, shallow-water and deep-sea fishing. Cavtat is also very close to the amazing Konavle area with its feel of Tuscany, and superb domestic restaurants.
You can get a boat or water taxi from Cavtat to Dubrovnik Old Town and Mlini
There’s also a water taxi over to the old town of Dubrovnik and many villages to explore along the Dubrovnik Riviera. There are regular water taxis, sometimes called ‘boat lines’, during the holiday season from Cavtat. These run into Dubrovnik Old Town, stopping off at the villages in between such as Plat and Mlini. There are also day trip boats to the Elafiti Islands. Actually several operators run the regular boat lines so they are usually very frequent. Indeed, you can Click here for one of the Timetables* for Water Taxis (Boat Line) from Cavtat Bay from one of these companies.
It is good to note that there is usually at least one boat back from Dubrovnik in the late evening, but only during peak season – July, August.
*If you are looking at the timetable before the season starts, be aware that the operator may decide to add more times to the schedule, but they only decide this at the beginning of season. So please be aware that this schedule might change.
