Chasing the Sun - Best Warm Weather Destinations for sun seekers on Croatian Holiday

By Saron Lease , 3rd January 2019

Chasing the sun – the Top 5 Sunbathing Locations in Croatia. For some, a holiday just isn’t a holiday without plenty of sun. The good news is that there’s always somewhere in the world where it’s sunny for most part of the year. Croatia is one of those countries. There are some of the best warm weather destinations for sun seekers. Let’s go chasing the sun around Croatia to find the best sunny holiday spots.

Brac Island

Zlatni Rat ( Golden Horn )

Probably Croatia's most famous beach, Zlatni Rat or "Golden Horn" if translated - this beautiful beach has crystal clear turquoise water and it’s a stunning location to lie back and take in the scenery. Head for the cape itself or just around the corner there are smaller, more peaceful coves – it’s very beautiful and if the sun gets a bit too hot there is plenty of shade to retreat under with lounge bars and chilled out music under the pine trees. Perfect.

Lovrecina Beach

This stunning beach makes a great day out. Hidden away in a beautiful forested bay near Postira on the Island of Brac the bay is sandy bottomed fro 100 metres or so and so it's perfect for a swim. It also has the remains of a roman summer villa so someone else clearly thought it was a nice location too. Plenty of sunshine here and there is also a scrummy restaurant serving local specialties so not much reason to move.

Split Riviera

Konoba Duga Beach

This is a little corner of heaven – tucked away just minutes from the main beach on Ciovo Island, this little bay has a picture perfect beach and the most divine restaurant. It’s a domestic restaurant so the food is all from the region and they just serve what is good – the steaks are fantastic, the wine is good.. and it’s all just steps from the beach. Drive there of boat in.

Slatine Bay

Slatine Bay has a really nice variety of beaches from the main town beaches to the wild Kava Beach, an unspoilt oasis on the other side of Slatine towards the end tip of Ciovo Island itself. You can’t go far wrong with Plaza Beach which has a beautiful crescent bay, calm turquoise water and a beach bar and bistro just a few steps away.

Dubrovnik Riviera

Mlini Bay Beaches

Mlini Bay has some of the best beaches on the Dubrovnik coast – with a lovely big bay sweeping into a horseshoe, Mlini and Srebreno together make a charming destination with beautiful beaches to delight in. Little coves hidden under the pine trees, white pebble beaches in the old part of the village, and cream sun loungers right on the beach deck – there’s something for everyone here and the bay is certainly full of atmosphere and interest.

Banje Beach

One of the most stunning beaches in the world in my opinion! Where else could you sunbathe with a view so iconic? Located right in front of Dubrovnik Old Town, it’s quite an awesome view. Drinks and food from East West Beach Bar, lie back, relax.

Sveti Jakov Beach ( St. Jacob)

Sveti Jakov Beach is popular with locals and isn’t very well known – a bit further on around the coast from Banje Beach and easy on the cocktails as there are a few steps – this beach has sun, views, a beach bar and a really special location.

Korcula Island

Prizba Beach

Prizba is located on the south coast of Korcula Island about 25 minutes drive from Zavalatica and is one of those locations that certainly makes an impression. With 360 views and a wonderful coastline, it is an idyllic spot to swim and sunbathe. There are several bays, beaches actually plus little islands and one stunning peninsula, and there are also a handful of restaurants/cafe's for quenching your thirst after all the relaxing you are doing.

Mljet Island

Saplunara  Beach

Mljet Island is a National Park and is a real unspoilt retreat. There are wild, natural beaches all over the island, stunning scenery and plentiful picturesque views and corners to wonder at. Its scenery and natural habitats and species are protected and none is more special than the area around the stunning beach of Saplunara. A horseshoe sandy bay, Saplunara is a classic, turquoise, shallow bay, protected from the wind and just wonderful to get away from it all...
