Contemporary Croatian Villas with Spectacular Sea Views

by Croatia Gems, 29th March 2024

Probably the phrase most used about Croatia is that it’s the “Mediterranean as it once was”. Indeed the Croatian coastline is charming, however the country is also emerging as a haven for contemporary design and it now packs some considerable ‘wow-factor’ punch. Some stunning in Croatian villas are popping up. Modern architecture perfectly set off the natural beauty of the locations as they are moulded into the landscape. They are often situated on the sea edge in wonderful coves or vibrant bays. Croatian villas have never been so alluring…

Dubrovnik Riviera

For the ultimate in contemporary luxury plus old world authenticity, there’s Dubrovnik’s Villa T. Perched above Dubrovnik Old Town the views are undeniably superb. And with heated pools, a high quality interior, concierge and maid service, you will not be wanting for anything here. The villa sleeps 12 guests an comes complete with elevator to reach the upstairs levels. For sublime views and a location walkable to everything in Mlini Bay there’s contemporary Dubrovnik Villa Turquoise. As the sun goes down, the pink sunsets will take your breath away while the minimalist interior is a soothing balm to the everyday hustle and bustle.

Korcula Island & Peljesac Peninsula

Villa Opus, on Korcula Island, is one such notable luxury Croatia villa – located just 5 km from Korcula town. Superbly designed, spectacular views and direct sea access. Surprisingly easy to get to from Dubrovnik or Split, the island has retained its authenticity and beauty with a myriad of little coves and pretty little towns, and some good restaurants.

Croatian Villas - Villa Opus Korcula

Just a short ferry ride from Korcula island takes you to the Peljesac Peninsula. Landing at Orebic, famous for its water sports, travel on to the very tip of the peninsula to find Villa Coral. Whilst an unassuming but modern small villa, it has lovely views of the tranquil bay. Proceed with your island hopping from Korcula to Hvar island where you’ll find a host of villas worthy of this article.

Hvar island

One such is 4 bedroom Villa Champagne, a super contemporary villa in sought-after Hvar town, with outstanding views of the busy bay. Another gorgeous new villa we’ve added recently to our portfolio is Hvar Town’s Villa Sky. Situated close to Hvar Town it’s a 3 bedroom boutique villa with wonderful views. Be mesmerized by views out across Hvar Town and to sea out to Hvar’s own Pakleni islands. It’s only a 10 minute stroll down into Hvar Town centre so the location is certainly enviable.

Brac Island

Another island taking the lead with contemporary Croatian villas with sea views is Brac Island. Here the coastline’s topography is more amenable to beach villas. Two such contemporary beach villas are the beautiful luxury villas are found in the exclusive Puntinak area just outside Sumartin.

Four bedroom Villa Oceana and its 6-bedroom neighbour Villa Mila are right on the sea edge, with their own jetties   They have stunning views of Sumartin itself with Mount Biokovo on the mainland in the distance. In the same Puntinak corner and a little more modest, is Villa Godi Star.  The holiday villa is a comfortable modern 5-bedroom villa with dramatic sea views. At the other end of the island of Brac, there’s Supetar Bay and it now boasts the superb Villa Dia. A beautiful high end beach villa, Villa Dia is perfect for groups who want the privacy of their own suite but who want to mingle!

Split Riviera

Here on the Split Riviera, our favourite contemporary Croatian villa has to be Palm Tree Villa. It’s definitely one of the most sought-after beach villas in Croatia that we have in our portfolio. Happily, it is just a short drive or water taxi from charming UNESCO  Trogir Old Town. And its immediate area has pretty beaches and beach bars if you can bring yourself to leave the confines of this perfect spot! Palm Tree Villa has two huge palm trees in the garden, testifying the time the villa has sat on the sea shore.

Just around the island of Ciovo above Okrug Gornji, you is tantalising 3 bedroom family Villa Marissa. The views will ensure you may stay a bit longer in the rooftop villa hot tub than you intended… And along the coast at Seget Vranjica, there’s superb luxury sea edge Villa Aqua with pool. On the sea edge looking out to sea, it sits between the little town with its pretty beaches and restaurants, and the other side which has a lovely promenade under the pine trees complete with eateries and cafes.

A new addition to our portfolio at Vinisce Bay is Villa Talia. This is a real find since it is a large villa with 8 bedrooms. Indeed this villa will certainly be popular with the increasingly popular multi-generational group holiday market. Close to restaurants and beaches and not far from Trogir Old Town itself, the location is super.

For contemporary luxury, and also in Vinisce Bay area, go for more privacy at 4 bedroom Villa Amala. Situated in a mouth watering little cove on the sea edge it’s the perfect bolthole for a luxury Croatia villa holiday for friends or family..

Finally, if you need some extra bedrooms, up the coast at Primosten is 7-bedroom Villa Rosa. This is a spacious villa which maximises the sea views which are framed through the unusual arched windows, and from the terrace.

Most of the sea edge locations are taken up by hotels in Istria, however an exception is Villa La Salsa. It overlooks a tranquil bay and is right beside the little harbour in Pjescana Uvala.
