Festival of St Blaise
1st – 9th February 2019: Dating back to the 15th Century, the Festival of St Blaise celebrates Dubrovnik’s Patron Saint – credited with saving the city from the Venetians by appearing in a vison to the town’s canon The celebrations start with the ‘Kandelora’ Candle mass on the 2nd February – The banners of the parishes come together, the bells are rung, there are hymns and prayer , white doves are released as a symbol of freedom and peace. There are concerts and Theatre productions and it’s all very atmospheric and uplifting.
