by Croatia Gems, 7th April 2023
Choosing your hot spot on the Adriatic for your Croatia villa rental? Maybe we can help? Here are some of our favourites.
Croatia Gems knows the areas and villas well in all the Adriatic coastal locations and are always here to help choose. If you know the location you want you could search for a villa here, or read on for some help.
Dubrovnik Riviera
Everyone recognises a photo of Dubrovnik old town, but there is so much more to Dubrovnik than the old town. It’s lovely to visit and experience the narrow streets full of culture and history & eat out at one of it’s amazing restaurants. But explore further out and there are islands to discover, book a family sunset kayaking experience or a Game of Thrones tour. Maybe you need to work off some energy, so head into the heart of Konavle countryside and have some fun at one of the Adrenalin parks.
There are some wonderful beaches too. One of the favourite spots outside the city is the little harbour town of Mlini really popular with families staying at their lovely Croatian Family villas. Beautifully clean beaches and crystal clear sea. And when it gets too hot, find one of the new little beach restaurants sheltered by the pine trees to have a nice relaxing lunch. Or catch the water taxi from your Dubrovnik villa‘s local harbour into the old town! It’s a fantastic way to see the old town and definitely the best way to travel.
Brac Island
One of our favourite places to stay is the charming island of Brac. If you need help choosing your hot spot on the Adriatic, this unique island has so much to see and do. It has villas for all group sized and pockets. The island is perfect for water sports and extremely popular with cyclists with routes for beginners and experts alike. Brac has great food – and new restaurants are everywhere. The island speciality is its mountain lamb usually served slowly cooked over coals in a ‘Peka’. However restaurant menus make the most of the local seafood too. And there is always plenty of pizza & delicious Italian ice cream to keep all ages happy. For holiday villas Croatia on Brac, check out some lovely Croatian Villas with Pools for your stay on Brac, it’s so easy to get too just a short 50 minute crossing from Split.
Island of Hvar
Hvar is famous as the sunniest Croatian island. It attracts visitors from all over the world with its untouched nature, hidden coves and bays and award winning wines. It also has a great nightlife in Hvar Old Town – stay in a Luxury Croatia villa in town or head for the quieter side of the island. There are some lovely Croatian Family Villas by the sea – check out Hvar villas here. There’s no doubt that Hvar is gorgeous but there are other islands which are also stunning…
Korcula
There are more than 1,100 islands lying along the Croatian coast but for many visitors, Korcula is the jewel of the Adriatic. The island is mostly covered with pine forests and olive groves, and has developed some wonderful cycling routes over the last few years, it has some amazing beaches too. For a night out wander into Korcula old town and try one of its excellent restaurants. Korcula villas come in all sizes and for all budgets.
Peljesac Peninsula
Just across from Korcula Island is the charming Peljesac peninsula – still largely undeveloped it has miles of wild beaches – lots of vineyards & charming villages. Once there, try some of the local restaurants and of course a glass of the famous wines like Dingac and Postup. If you like shellfish – hop down to Ston and its medieval city walls, second only to the great wall of China! The oyster farms are said to produce the best oysters in Croatia. Then work it off with some windsurfing – the channel between Korcula and Orebic (head for Perna or Viganj) produces the best conditions in the afternoons. Peljesac villas can be found in the towns and villages or some in dramatic sea edge locations.
Split Riviera & Trogir
More & more people are exploring this part of the coast as there are such a lot of places to see and things to do. You can explore the Cetina River near the old pirate town of Omis – and go canyoning or white water rafting. Drive up to the Krka Waterfalls near Sibenik and swim under one of the waterfalls. Do take your camera it’s a stunning day out! Take a boat trip out to the islands and spot some dolphins! Or wander around the colourful markets in Trogir old town and shop for that BBQ evening at your Split Family Villa.
