Istria is one of the best loved parts of Croatia and many who decide to holiday in Croatia go to Istria and for a good reason. This region of the country offers everything from ancient Roman heritage to small villages dotted with rustic villas.

One of the ways to see Istria is cycling, at least that’s what the locals say. The good people of istra.hr – the official Istrian tourist web portal, write about istrian bike trails. They say the entire peninsula is criss-crossed with over 60 cycling trails of various formats, making this region one of the most cycling friendly in the entire country. Some of the most attractive trails are along the coast, from cape Kamenjak to the town of Rovinj, or the ones around Vrsar and Poreč. Inland, there are plenty of trails to be used to explore the rich countryside featuring hidden villages and ancient ruins.

If you are worried about coming to Istria off season – don’t be. Weather here is good for cycling pretty much throughout the year as evidenced by the fact one of the biggest cycling-hiking events, along the former train route of “Parenzana” takes place on December 15th.
