Ivan Dolac on Hvar Island is a little village on the south side of the island separated from the other side by a tunnel through the hill. It’s a bit of an adventure to get there with a drive up through some gorgeous scenery of vineyards and olive groves, then the tunnel. The spectacular views of the south side of the island come into full view as you exit the tunnel! This side of Hvar is characterised by its perfect vineyard position (Hvar owes its terrific wine to many of the grapes grown here) and it’s quite a different feel to the more connected side of Hvar Island. This coast is defined by its steep hillside and eye popping views out to sea.

Meandering further down towards the sea brings you to Ivan Dolac, Sveta Nedjelja and Zavala, all relaxed little places, perfect for a week or two of the simple life. Gone is the sophistication of cosmopolitan Hvar Town, this is scenic beauty, sunshine, beaches, sunsets, local food and wine. The stuff memories are made of.

Ivan Dolac on Hvar Island is a lovely place for a holiday in Croatia and perfect for an island escape. Favourite pastimes for holiday makers are obviously swimming and sunbathing, playing cards, eating the fresh fish and sampling the island wine! From here, if you do also want to explore then hiring a car allows you to get to the other parts of the island. You can reach Jelsa on the other side of Hvar Island in just over 15 minutes (10 km away) and Hvar Town in about 40 minutes (28.5km) along the scenic coast road from Ivan Dolac Bay on Hvar Island.
