A very pretty little fishing town, Jelsa is a lovely spot for a family holiday or for couples who want to experience quintessential Croatia. Jelsa is a large, picturesque bay with a traditional, quaint old town and town square, complete with fishing boat harbour and colourful boats bobbing in the water. There is a good selection of well placed restaurants, coffee shops and ice cream parlours to while away the lunch and evening time hours, and a promenade around the harbour and bay, meandering around the craft stalls is an enjoyable after dinner pursuit!
Jelsa has a beautiful coastline with sandy beaches and bays to explore – the beach at Mina Bay has lovely, turquoise water and the water is calm and shallow. Accommodation in the area tends to stretch along the coastline around the bay.
Vrboska (just under 10 minute drive) and Starigrad (15 minute drive) are close by for a change of scene, each with their own beaches too and if you want to explore further afield, Hvar Town is approximately half an hour drive and a must-see day trip while on the island.
