Kolocep Island is one of the 3 Elafiti Islands just of the coast of Dubrovnik. It is a beautiful, untouched island with plenty to explore and pretty bays and coves to delight in. There are no cars on the islands so it’s a lovely place to escape and really relax! This is true for all three Elafiti Islands and so only bikes or occasional golf buggies transporting guests luggage are to be seen! It’s a gorgeous island and so close to Dubrovnik. The main bay has a beautiful sandy beach and fantastic views.

It’s easy to get to Kolocep – it is a 25 minute transfer to Gruz Harbour from Dubrovnik Airport and then a 20 minutes ferry ride to Kolocep Island (regular Jadrolinija ferries go 4 times a day – check timetables as times can change)· The last ferry usually leaves Dubrovnik at 20:00. It is good to have this option in case you would like to stay for a dinner in Dubrovnik… or you have to catch the early flight. It is possible to organise taxi boat transfers at any time for approx £50 per trip (8 persons max).

There is a little shop in the centre of the village and it is possible to buy all basic food there, but our top tip is to stock up in the bug super market in Gruz harbour before you come over to the island if you intend to self cater.

Of course if you just want to eat out then there are some very nice options! There are 2 bars and a restaurant in the bay and 1 other restaurant on the island operating June through September. There is also, restaurant in the local hotel which also operates through May and October depending on the number of guests.

If you want to get active, it is possible to rent kayaks in front of the hotel and there are paths all over the island for exploring so walking and swimming are always an option!
