Offshore World Challenge & Tunalicious Street Food Festival – Porec, Istria

By Saron Lease 16th September, 2018

According Porestina.info, for the fourth year  the biggest Big Game Fishing tournament in Croatia – Offshore World Challenge – will take place from 12th to 15th September 2018 in Porec and will be accompanied by the fantastic Tunalicious Street Food Festival, whose programme will last from 13th to 15th September.

Last year, the OWC Big Game Fishing tournament gathered over 300 participants from 8 countries competing on 70+ boats. This year, visitors can once again enjoy watching the boats leave the Riva in the morning, as well as the daily weigh-ins of prize catches at the Riva in the evening.

This four-day sporting event is also a qualifying tournament for the world championship, which is a great value to help promote Croatian tourism, specifically fishing tourism, for which our country has excellent climate and resources.

In addition to the sports portion of the programme, the most eventful Tunalicious Street Food Festival yet will also provide a plethora of tuna specialities. All visitors will be able to enjoy a special gastronomic programme that will delight all admirers of the queen of the Adriatic Sea. Top-notch chefs will prepare a variety of treats made from tuna caught by the competitors during the competition.

This year’s enhanced gastro concept brings an array of gastro corners to the Porec Riva, such as the Burger Bar, Tuna Bites, Sushi Bar, Sea Food, Tuna Bar and Sweet Bites Bar, and provides the opportunity to enjoy craft beer and local wines at the same time. While fine-dining, a DJ performing his set on the Riva summer stage and the bands The Janitors and Side Effects will provide excellent musical entertainment, with the Dino Dvornik Tribute Band and the regional favourites S.A.R.S offering a special musical treat.

Tuna Restaurant week is all about innovative recipes, first-class chefs and fantastic tuna which are the recipe for a true culinary experience. The restaurants participating in the one-of-a-kind Tuna Restaurant Week are as follows: Konoba Cakula, Spinnaker, Miramare, Restaurant Parenzo 1910, Cotton Club, Fora Le Porte, L’insolito, Hrast, Divino, Cardo, Gourmet, Niki’s and Sveti Nikola.
