Porec is one of the main old towns and destinations on the Istrian peninsula – the old town is beautiful and juts out into the Adriatic Sea – it still has its roman grid street format – in fact you can still visit its original Roman street. Decumanus Street, which is the original main street through Porec Old Town, will give you a flavour of what life used to be like in Roman times here in Porec. This is wonderful for sight seeing for a weekend of a longer holiday – there is much sight seeing to be done – explore the ruins of a Roman temple and the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Euphrasian Basilica from the 6th century.
