Dubrovnik villas are certainly in demand and the area is the most sought-after on the Adriatic coast
Finding the best Croatian villas though, is all about knowing the locations and villas themselves. For a villa rental, Croatia, the chances are that you are looking for a small family villa, or a large villa for grandparents to join you as well. Perhaps you are looking for a villa for a group of friends? Whatever the reason, the location is key to the success of the villa holiday! So where to go?
Cavtat bay location
Closer to the airport, Cavtat bay is a great location within easy reach of Dubrovnik. With its beaches, old town, selection of attractive restaurants and sea edge coffee and wine bars, what’s not to like? There are lovely walks in Cavtat -take the one from the car park around the peninsula or maybe meander along the sea edge to the beaches. You can hop on the water taxi from the harbour to Plat, Mlini and Dubrovnik Old Town or hire a boat with skipper to explore the coastline. Maybe try scuba diving or kayak to a nearby island!
Villa Cavtat
Villa Cavtat nestles into the hillside and is a fantastic spot to be based for a group villa holiday. The bedrooms offer real flexibility for everyone in the group, so a good multigenerational villa. Everything is within an easy wander and it’s a really super destination young and old.
Mlini bay location
For a Dubrovnik villa location that you can walk to everything from, you can’t beat sought-after Mlini bay.
Villa Turquoise
Take Dubrovnik Villa Turquoise, for example. Minimalist meets cosy fisherman’s hideaway, it’s a 3 bedroom villa with pool on the start of the hillside just steps from the sea. Nestled just above the sea edge, this location oozes relaxing vibes and is a real escape. Wander down the steps into the bay for beaches, restaurants, water sports and the boat into Dubrovnik Old Town, or before heading out for dinner, join one of the free guided walks around the historic Mlini village. Or maybe take the frequent bus into town, or take it in the other direction to explore lovely Cavtat.
Villa Nectara & Summer Villa
A Croatian villa with a private pool but still close to the beach and restaurants? Have a look at exclusive Villa Nectara or private Summer Villa. Set in their own grounds, they’re wow-factor exclusive Croatian villas – the perfect place for holidays to Dubrovnik. Both villas are set back from the sea edge so have their privacy and space. Yet both are still only a wander from everything in the bay. For a Dubrovnik villa rental, Mlini is so close to everything and yet has that beachy, village feel. It’s the perfect cosy holiday-sized place with easy access to the little islands and Dubrovnik sightseeing spots. It’s so easy to head into Dubrovnik Old Town for dinner or drinks, or on a Mlini kayak trip to nearby Supetar Island!
Alternatively, a good large villa is Villa Mlini to sleep 12, it has an integral 2-bedroom apartment (perfect for the young family in the group, or maybe the teens in the group so they can have some independence, or perhaps grandparents wanting a bit of peace and quiet away from the rest of the group). The villa is very well positioned for the beach, restaurants and shops. Or a smaller family or couple, Villa Sylvie is delightful. Two bedrooms, contemporary styling pool and lovely outside areas – sleeps up to 6 guests.
Zaton bay location
Zaton stretches around a horseshoe-shaped bay – it is both charming and picturesque, lovely for a relaxing walk to the several water-side restaurant or swimming in the sea. The sea is a particularly vivid colour, with little coves and swimming spots featuring, and plenty of shady pine trees. It follows that Zaton was a favourite of the old Dubrovnik aristocratic families who used to holiday here.
Villa Zaton
Villa Zaton comes recommended. As well as the 4 double bedrooms and pool, it has quite a few extras, including a cinema room, pool and table tennis tables and a konoba. The villa is in a discrete residential area, so likely to be peaceful. It has a garden and has a lot of trees and greenery around, so it’s a particularly nice environment, and just a short walk down into lovely Zaton village.
Plat bay location
Just down the coast, between Cavtat and Mlini is magical Plat bay, also connected by local boat line to Dubrovnik Old Town and the surrounding bays and islands. There are pretty little coves and beaches to explore. This bay hasn’t been developed at all so it’s a bit lost in time! As a result, there aren’t many Dubrovnik villas here. There are two sides to the bay with the charming Poseidon beach restaurant and terrace on one side and usually quiet, relaxing beach. Then on the other side of the headland there’s a big long beach.
Villa Nightingale
Villa Nightingale is an oasis of calm and so named because amongst the cicadas, you can hear the nightingales sing! With beautiful views and attractive interior, this is one of those Croatian villas that has a real quality feel. The villa owners are architects and built the villa for themselves for their own holidays to Dubrovnik, so it’s not unsurprising. The pool and pergola seating area makes it a villa to relax in.
