Take the Orient Express to Your Villa in Split Croatia

By Croatia Gems, 1st April 2024

Travelling by Orient Express to Split in Croatia means you can take the greener (and the more stylish route) to your villa in Split Croatia

The Orient Express returned to Croatia in 2023 according to Time Out. No longer journeying through Zagreb and Slavonia on its historic route. The new route goes from Rome to Istanbul but will detour to Split in Croatia. Good news for anyone gong to a villa in Split Croatia! Now you can travel in style…

The new route sees the luxury train traverse Italy before heading southeast to Split and thereafter onto Istanbul.

The Orient express is bound to be popular, given its iconic status in people’s minds. This is largely due to Agatha Christie’s famous crime novel “Murder on the Orient Express”. This has made its way into several acclaimed film versions over the years.

Route options

Luxury rail travellers are now able to journey from London to Italy via Paris, and then on to Split. Here holidaymakers are able to choose between a hotel or a luxury Split Croatia holiday villa on the Split Riviera or on one of the nearby islands of Brac or Hvar. We suspect that Orient Express users will have had their fill of living close to their travelling companions. They will welcome the opportunity to move to their own private space – likely to be in the form of a Split Croatia holiday villa, rather than an hotel.

We have some luxury Croatia villa options for our intrepid Orient Express travellers to continue with a Croatia vacation. These are but a selection, designed to show a range, but we have many more to suit your wallet and desires!

A selection of Croatian villas on the Split Riviera mainland

Villa Aqua is a fabulous luxury, seafront villa close to UNESCO Trogir Old Town. With a concierge at your disposal is just the perfect choice for a carefree vacation in Croatia. The villa is just 2 meters from the Adriatic Sea, a short walk to the village centre and only 6 km away from the Trogir. This villa location is ideal because it allows full privacy and quiet, away from the busy city life.

Villa Moonstone has 5 double bedrooms and a single. It is recently built and with contemporary décor. It is on the water’s edge and beach. You also have a fitness room and sauna – also has a pool table and 2nd (indoor) pool with counter current system (heated). It’s just 3.5 km from Trogir Old Town centre, so probably a 30 minute walk in but it’s only a 10 minute walk to the water taxi which you can catch into Trogir, or the Split bus stop is there too. It is a 10-minute walk to Okrug Gornji’s beach bars and restaurants. There’s boat mooring too (charged locally).

Need something smaller? Villa Marissa is a new high spec 3 bedroom villa overlooking Okrug Beach has everything from a children’s play area to a gym/sauna and a roof terrace and hot tub really well equipped. Okrug Gornji and Trogir Old Town have everything you need and there’s easy access to activities, beaches, restaurants, excursions plus a water taxi to Trogir.

Should you prefer a hotel, two Accor hotels, the boutique Hotel MGallery Fermai, which opened in 2023, and the first Mövenpick hotel in the country,  are ready for Orient Express train guests.

These luxury Brac villas are just a selection

Villa Mila – fabulous sea edge 6-bedroom villa, each with its own private terrace and king size bed (of which 4 are separable, so teens for example, don’t have to share a bed). In Sumartin bay, beaches, restaurants and a beach bar, boat, electric bike, jet ski and canoe hire all close by. You have a dedicated concierge at your disposal and of course housekeeping also.

Villa Godi Star gets consistently great reviews– 5 bedrooms and above the beach. The villa owner has an excursions company, so you have really great hosts here! It’s in Sumartin Bay and it’s really lovely – you sort of feel that you are on your own little island, yet you have restaurants and a beach bar along the lane.

Here are a varied selection of Hvar villas

Villa Champagne is in Hvar town but with some privacy, this four-bedroom villa ticks all the boxes. A short walk into lively Hvar town but set on the hills overlooking the bay so away from the bustle. The villa is sublime with everything taken care of from the heated infinity pool to the well-equipped gym. The concierge service can arrange everything from chefs to restaurant tables.

Villa Saffron is a beautiful modern 3-bedroom Hvar villa within easy reach of the beach and Hvar town centre. It ticks all the boxes for a lovely contemporary-styled vacation villa – perfect for couples and families who want to be within easy reach of all the restaurants and shops but far enough away from the hub bub of the town.

Villa Caesar is a short drive from Hvar town, very private, well equipped and with amazing sea views. Recently renovated to a high standard this beautiful Hvar villa is found a short drive from Hvar town – lovely décor, with a keen attention to detail, Villa Caesar not only has stunning views but is very private surrounded by high walls and olive groves.
