Cool experiences in vibrant Dubrovnik
The article in the Indian online portal says that Dubrovnik has such a great vibe and it’s becoming quite the cool destination – With film stars and pop stars being spotted quite regularly dining in the old town restaurants or mooring off shore in their super yachts , some are referring to the town as the new St Tropez.
There is so much to do and see in the area. Croatia, is a fascinating place; here’s how you can tap into the vibe…
Explore the city walls
It’s beautifully intact and, after its association with Game of Thrones, and Star Wars, a great favourite with fans and visitors. Expect to find a lot of people around, since Dubrovnik is also a favourite cruise ship stop.Best time to explore is early morning or late afternoon when the crowds are thinner and the heat is calmer.
Take a cable car ride up to Mt Srd
The ride up will give you stunning views of the city below, and some amazing photographs to look back on, you can see across the old town to the bay and out to the Elafiti Islands . When you get to the top there is a cafe and a bar/restaurant to enjoy the views . The old fortress which command s the top of the mountain was built by Napoleon .and now holds an exhibition about the Homeland War
If the cable car is not for you – then the number 8 bus from Ploce Gate also goes there
Join one of the night walks around the city
What an experience to walk around such an atmospheric city at sunset when the restaurants are full and there is excitement in the air. The tour will take you through the Stradun which is the main street, and by the Old City Harbour where you will see the boats gently swaying in the dimming light. Enjoy a night cap at one of the little bars that are set in the walls around the town
Or enjoy some music at the Lazareti Complex – once a medieval quarantine facility built in 1627 its now restored and modernised and has some wonderful live music/visting dj’s at night while during the day it exhibits crafts and cultural events .
Venture into the surrounding countryside
So many different ways to explore this countryside from wine tasting on the Peljesac Peninsula to Absailing at the Konalve adventure centre Cadmos Village – they have everything for the active family whether your in to zip lines , paintballing or mountain biking – great restaurant too !

Explore the islands
You can’t come to Dubrovnik and not do some island hopping – either by boat or by sea kayak
Enjoy a three island tour during the day stopping at each for a swim and explore , go later in the day and come back as the sun sets , or book a half or full day for the family on sea kayaks
The sea is so calm there its perfect for beginners and an introduction class will be perfect for everyone.
