Vidova Gora on the island of Brac is the highest peak of all the Croatian islands – It’s a fantastic view point and apart from being able to see the distant Croatian island of Jabuka (apple) and practically the while of one side of the Island of Hvar, you can apparently see as far as Italy on a clear day! Aswell as these more distant shores, there is also one very famous beach that it is also worth coming up here for and that is to see probably Croatia’s most famous beach – Zlatni Rat or “Golden Horn”. It’s spectacular shifting form and turquoise waters are stunning from this high up and you really get a wonderful view of the entire coastline.
To get to the peak of Vidova Gora you can drive, hike or cycle (or get driven up with your bikes on the roof rack and free wheel back down! Aside from the views, the peak has a hunting lodge which has plenty of provincial island character and most importantly, Grappa! Have a drink, take in the stunning views and make your way back down the hill feeling like you have really seen a different side of the island.
