VILLA DIONYSUS – ECO VILLA, STARIGRAD, HVAR ISLAND
Located just between Stari Grad and Vrboska, on the Island of Hvar, this cute Eco villa would make the ideal retreat – very popular with cyclists as it’s on the Hvar cycle trail (just off one of the roman roads that run across the island).
Description
Villa Dionysus is a very eclectic property with pool and wonderful gardens not far from the sea. Part of an Unesco heritage site – The Hora-Ager fields preserved in original form from the 4th century B.C. The property size is a massive 3100m² and the three stone cottages have been reconstructed in the traditional manner with thick stone walls to keep the interiors cool.
There are 2 bedrooms, one with a double and a single – the other just has a double so perfect for a smaller family or group of friends who are looking for a different villa experience. Both cottages have recently been upgraded with air con units – Wifi is still a bit hit and miss through a 14gb stick but it gives you a chance to really get away from it all. The nearest beach is just 800m through the pine trees.
Outside there is a nice pool, shower and a summer kitchen with BBQ facilities. Perfect for experimenting with the wonderful local produce, of course for those that prefer not to cook, nearby Stari Grad has some very good restaurants and is about a 20 minute stroll or guests have five bicycles for their use. Fishing trips can be arranged with a local fisherman/chef – so not only can he help you catch your own fish he can also cook it for you!
The garden is full of aromatic Mediterranean plants and herbs and there are walnut trees olives and fig trees with another area for sitting and eating in the shade there are day beds, hammocks etc also for relaxing in the shade of the oak trees.
The nearest beach is 1km from the property. So again about 15-20 min’s walk or short bike ride.

In one cottage there is one double bed (180×200) – sleeping 2 guests and one single bed – sleeping 1 guest (it is like studio apartment), kitchenette & bathroom.
Cottage 2:
Double bed (165×200) – sleeping 2 guests and one sofabed in the living area (160×200) sleeping 2 guests, kitchen & bathroom
