Mlini is one of our favourite places on the Dubrovnik coastline and one of the best places to book a villa in Croatia with pool. It’s only 10 minutes’ drive from the old town of Dubrovnik, yet it is a small and unspoilt pretty fishing village. Indeed, if you are looking Dubrovnik villas and for an authentic location, close everything, Mlini is a real find. One of the closest locations to the old town of Dubrovnik for Croatian villas for rent, it is perfect for Croatia holidays. Particularly so, as villas don’t need to have a car in Mlini.
Easy to Get to the Old Town of Dubrovnik & Other Bays Nearby
Primarily, it has some of the best transport links to the old town of Dubrovnik. Aside from being an easy Uber or taxi ride, there is also a frequent bus service. And you can also hop on the local boat line from Mlini or Srebreno and get to the old town in around 20 minutes. We’d recommend Mlini because it is a peaceful haven, out of the hustle and bustle of the old town of Dubrovnik. But it’s close enough to pop in when you want. While away the days in Mlini in a villa and wander to the beach. Or, soak up the sun, chill out in a café bar in the shade. Mlini Bay is certainly a prime location to villa holiday.
Great Selection of Restaurants in Mlini & Nearby Srebreno
There are food shops close by if you want to rustle up something for lunch and a good selection of local restaurants in Mlini. They serve food at breakfast, lunch and dinner so if you prefer to eat out and sample the local fare, you really don’t have to venture far. Of course you can easily pop to Dubrovnik old town for more restaurants and nightlife. This is a must do one evening as it is stunning!
Tours, Sightseeing & Excursions are Easy from Mlini
When you want to get out and about from your villa, you do have options if you don’t want to take the car. There is a regular water taxi (or boat line as it is called in Croatia). It goes from Mlini harbour (or from Srebreno at the other end of Mlini bay), up and down the coast. So you can go into Dubrovnik old town harbour in one direction or Plat or Cavtat in the other. Some of the water taxis also stop off at verdant, uninhabited Lokrum island, which is a lovely place to spend the day.
Water taxi’s usually start as early as Easter as that’s when the lovely weather usually starts! There is also an excellent regular bus service that goes along the main road going from Dubrovnik and down into Cavtat. Plus ,of course, you have taxis available.
Explore further afield on the Dubrovnik Riviera
Cavtat Bay is just 15 minutes away by car or you can take the water taxi but there are plenty of places to explore up and down the coastline as well as small islands just of the mainland. How about popping to see the wonderful sunsets at Lapad Bay. Or head up beyond Dubrovnik and find some divine bays by Orasac, for example Brsecine or Stikovice. Treat yourself to a speedboat from Brsecine cove to the gastronomic paradise of BOWA restaurant on Sipan Island? Montenegro is also a short drive away – only 40 minutes to the border from Dubrovnik. Indeed you cold stop for lunch in Dubrovnik’s very own Tuscan area of Konavle! Located between Cavtat and the Montenegro border is the perfect place for lunch. Konavle which is often likened to Tuscany for its landscape features. It is fast becoming renowned for its “gastro-tourism” as this part of the coast boasts some of the best domestic restaurants in the area. Definitely worth a visit.
Trsteno Arboretum: Visit A Game of Thrones Filming Location
To please the whole family why not head to the lush greenery and serenity of the Trsteno Arboretum, a Renaissance garden famous for being a filming location for the popular series “Game of Thrones.” Wander through the arboretum’s fascinating gardens with its many exotic plants, and discover the hidden cove with a freshwater stream and grotto at the sea edge.
Explore the Wine Region of Dalmatia – The Peljesac Peninsula
Perhaps head up onto the Peljesac peninsula and visit a vineyard for some wine tasting or try some local oysters near Ston.
