VILLA MLINI BAY – MLINI BAY, DUBROVNIK RIVIERA
This charming villa has one of the best locations in sought after Mlini Bay, sitting just one house behind the sea edge in the centre of the sweeping bay.
With stunning turquoise views out across the sea, the villa is nestled off a little path and is just steps from the first beach and Mlini’s charming harbour and village. If the beach is your thing, Mlini Bay has some of the prettiest beaches on the coast with picturesque coves laced with pine and cypress trees. There are a good selection of restaurants all around Mlini Bay, the closest of which is only about 5 minutes from the villa. There’s also a great cafe bar steps away. Hop on a boat from Mlini harbour into the Old Town of Dubrovnik and to pretty nearby Cavtat Bay and Plat Bay, or take very worthwhile trip out to the lovely car-free Elaffiti Islands off the Dubrovnik coast. Mlini Bay is one of the most desirable bays on the Dubrovnik Riviera given its location close to Dubrovnik Old Town and close vicinity to Mlini beaches – there are also a good selection of restaurants in Mlini – it’s an attractive location to spend a holiday and suits all age groups. With its pine shaded bay, car free promenade around most of the bay, play areas, water sports and beautiful turquoise beaches, not to mention its laid back atmosphere, it is the kind of place you can easily just potter around in for a week quite contentedly. Vehicle access is usually restricted in the bay during the summer season, which makes it particularly relaxing, however our guests will have car access into this area to reach the dedicated parking spot that comes with the villa. It isn’t necessary to hire a car as everything is on your doorstep and different age groups can easily have their own independence. With the old, pretty part of Mlini at one side of the bay and the Marina with new Sheraton Hotel and mall at the other side of the bay, everyone is delighted with Mlini… Inside, the villa has is perfect for two couples or a small family. There is a light and airy living /dining area with kitchen which opens directly onto the terrace – beautiful sea views from inside and out and the perfect location for a glass of chilled local wine! There is a small grocery store and bakery within walking distance to the house, while there is a large supermarket around at the other side of the bay. There are also regular bus lines to Dubrovnik or Cavtat that stop fairly close to the house. There are lots of Things to do on the Dubrovnik Riviera like Hiring a Chef for your Villa, taking a Walking Tour of the Old Town of Dubrovnik, going on a Tuk Tuk Tours, Wine Tasting in Dubrovnik or taking a trip to Korcula Island, taking an Excursion to the famous Old Town of Mostar, Exploring the Filming Locations of the Games of Thrones Series in Dubrovnik, Island Hopping around Dubrovnik’s own little Elaffiti Islands! “Hi Helen, My wife has put her feedback below which I completely agree with. I’d also like to thank you personally because you recommended Villa Mlini Bay to me. The main problem was we just didn’t want to leave! We had two fabulous weeks and have all fallen in love with Croatia. Our transfer, both from and to the airports, and arrival went so smoothly. Mario was a superstar helping us with our bags to the villa and gave us all the information we needed to know. The villa was beautifully clean with everything required and there was thoughtful snacks, milk, butter and wine left for our arrival which was brilliant. All the restaurants we visited were great. Our favourite was Lanterna – the fish restaurant at the harbour – we ended up there a few times. We also visited Flamingo and Oleander (beach restaurant). For days out we got the boat to Dubrovnik twice. We also got a boat to Cavtat one day which was beautiful – we went for lunch and afterwards swam off the rocks – one of our highlights. We also rented a boat to go exploring in – this was from the bar in the harbour. Again, really helpful, friendly, lovely people who were very welcoming. We loved watching the water polo too. All in all it was just what we needed and loved every second! Thanks again for helping us choose a great holiday location. C and M” August 2020 “Good evening Helen, As requested, some feedback following our recent holiday to Croatia. It was fantastic! Overall booking service – excellent. Croatia Gems always prompt with information. Arrival information pack containing details about Mlini and Dubrovnik (and Croatia generally) is very comprehensive and definitely useful, including some useful phrases and translations. Villa Mlini Bay – Mario is a friendly and welcoming host. He was there to greet us on arrival, gave clear instructions and guidance on what was in the property (including some very helpful and unexpected basic provisions in the refrigerator). The kitchen is well provided for with more than adequate pots, pans, cutlery, plates and glasses (the only things that we could possibly think of as additions, and we had to think very hard here, would be a garlic press and a baking sheet for the oven – both of which we may have been able to find in Konzum if they had been critical to catering!). Internally the property is clean, tidy and well presented. Extremely comfortable mattresses, great to have air conditioning so no complaints about temperature or sleeping at all. Easy to maintain and keep tidy with tiled floors. Location of property – 107 steps down to the waterfront so, amazing views and keeps you fit. Would obviously be a problem for young children in prams and pushchairs or those who have mobility difficulties (your property details do warn of this), but for a family with two active and mobile children it’s perfect, and with great views out across Mlini Bay. The other big plus is that the property is located on the west (seaward) side of the main road into Mlini. Having seen the traffic and the somewhat limited pedestrian provisions along and crossing the road we realised just how much of a daily concern it would have been had the accommodation been on the other side. Konoba Lanterna – excellent meal and very good service. We would certainly recommend this restaurant. We didn’t venture far but we did make it to Dubrovnik. Nice to see to old town but far too busy for us and we were very happy to return to Mlini and an afternoon of swimming. Overall Mlini and Srebreno cater for a very international tourist market. The location is popular with families travelling with children and felt very safe. Access to the local beaches was easy and we never felt that it was overcrowded or so busy as to be off-putting. A great location for swimming and water-sports. We definitely recommend both Mlini as a destination generally and Villi Mlini Bay specifically. We are considering our options for next year but a return to Croatia is a distinct possibility. Best wishes, Simon” August 2019 “Hi Helen Sorry for delayed reply. Bit busy catching up after the holiday! We had an absolutely brilliant holiday. First time to Croatia and really liked it… lovely people and beautiful sea and coast. Villa Mlini Bay – Amazing welcome pack, Mario very helpful and arranged for us to arrive early, great location / great view. Thanks again for a great holiday. Sally” July 2019 “Very beautiful villa, atmospheric, clean and stylish inside, with a nice garden and a veranda with the beautiful view. Mario was very helpful, friendly and effective, with prompt communication and provision of any information and help which we needed. On the arrival, Mario met us on the road above the property and help with the luggage. There was an essential food on the arrival for the supper and breakfast, with a bottle of nice local wine. Villa is located in a quiet and very green area, with only around 5 minutes or so to the beach (although some steps are involved!). We really enjoyed out stay, and the villa and the Mlini area were superb. Yulia” July 2019 “Amazing location – close to different beaches, restaurants and grocery stores, yet still quiet. Very clean. Beautiful garden and the terrace with a stone grill. Has A/C, which was an amazing bonus! Accommodating hosts. Highly recommend and would happily come back! Petra” June 2019 “Hello Sharon The villa is spotless and spacious. There is a large open plan kitchen, dining and lounge area. TV, internet. Air conditioning (in the living room, so we just left the bedroom ajar). Plenty of storage space. Mario met us from the taxi and helped carry our luggage. He provided us with the best welcome pack we have ever had: milk, cheese, bread, eggs, wine and beer! There are a few essentials in the kitchen cupboard (for example, coffee, salt, pepper, packet soup). There are mosquito plug-ins and spray in the drawer. Outside, there is a terrace with a table and chairs, and a barbecue. Perfect house. We loved the location because it was so private and peaceful and I would thoroughly recommend it. However, it is not for anyone with mobility problems. It sits on quite a steep hillside, with steps to the promenade and, although it’s fine going down, it is a real climb on the way back up, especially when it is hot. Mario is a friendly, generous host. Mlini is a quiet, friendly village. There is a small harbour and the taxi boats come and go regularly to Dubrovnik and Cavtat. It is also possible to hire a boat for a day/half day, sea kayaks and jet ski. You can book boat trips to the Elafiti Islands. There are several lovely restaurants in the village – our favourite was Laterna. Water polo plays a big part in the life of the village. There is a water polo pool next to the harbour and this can be used by anyone. There are frequent competition days which are great fun: there are water polo matches, with teams from neighbouring towns and villages competing; a barbeque; live bands and dancing; drinks stalls; fireworks. Next to the water polo pool is the scuba diving centre. Kind regards, Caroline” August 2018 All prices are in Euros (€) per villa/ apt/ room.
