The Perfect Escape – Villas in Croatia with private pool for May half term
By Croatia Gems, 12th May 2026
If you’ve fed up with the recent cold weather, you might be thinking about getting away for the May half term. There are still villas in Croatia with private pool free for the week, so we thought we’d whet your appetite
You’ll pay a fraction of the price of going in high summer for villas in Croatia With Private pool, and everything will be open. Restaurants, beach bars, water taxis and the sights all open at the start of May. Additionally, temperatures by the end of May are usually between 23 – 27 degrees Centigrade (74 – 80F), so make sure you take your hat and sun lotion. Pool water temperatures will be lovely too, as it doesn’t take much Mediterranean sun to heat them up.
Here is a selection of our choicest Croatian villas with pools in the main centres, free over the half term break, but we do have others free, so just ask:
Dubrovnik Riviera
Villa Turquoise – one of the best locations in Mlini Bay, a short walk to beaches, restaurants, and café bars. Plus, there are several play areas which are suitable for all ages and the water taxi into Dubrovnik. Three en-suite double bedrooms (1 can be a twin), sleeps up to 8, and spacious open plan living area. Every room with a fabulous sea view and lovely pool terrace with alfresco eating terrace overlooking it. Save money – no need for a car as everything is walkable. Check out more villas in Mlini, Dubrovnik here.

Or, we have 3-bedroom Villa Evie, located in a little village just above Srebreno end of Mlini bay. Ideally, you’d be best with a car here or be OK to take taxis/Ubers, but it’s perfectly manageable to walk down to the bay. The frequent No.10 bus into Dubrovnik or Cavtat goes along the main road and it’s about 1.5km to the beach/restaurants. Free 17th – 29th May 2026.
Split Riviera
Over the hill from the main busy part of Okrug Gornji we have Villa Doriana – really nice with a lovely pool area. It is in a quiet little bay, and good value – relatively convenient – just turn left out of the entrance and look down to the sea, walk along the sea path for approx. 10-15 mins and there is a nice little bay with a couple of restaurants (600m – 1km). There’s a beach bar in the other direction.

If you need something a little larger, Villa Angela is a little further on at Okrug Donji. Sleeps up to 8 in 4 bedrooms, it is newly built and within walking distance of the beach, restaurant and little shop, but is on a bus route to lively Okrug Gornji and stunning Trogir old town. Plus, you can get a water taxi to Trogir from the harbour.

Larger Split area villa
Villa Slatine is in lovely Slatine bay, and almost on the beach. It has 5 bedrooms and there are lovely areas to relax around the villa, in the shade or in the sun, a super BBQ/outside dining area and those all-important sea views! It’s practically on the beach with a fab beach bar and restaurant so you don’t need to move. You have a bus service to beautiful UNESCO protected Trogir and along to Slatine. And there are beautiful stretches of beach on the other side of Slatine village too, just a bit further along.
Brac island – the closest island to Split
If you fancy a bargain, both luxury Villa Pax or its neighbouring sister villa, Villa Vitae (they are slightly different in layout) each have 3-bedrooms. They are discounted by 20%, and both have lots of extras and are in a great location in Sutivan, literally minutes from the beach and with everything in walking distance from the villa. It’s well-known for cycling here, so as well as all the lovely traditional restaurants etc, you have cycle routes and tours. Good for water sports too.
Villa Sinatra also has 3 bedrooms (+ a double sofa bed in the downstairs apartment) and is almost sea edge and in the pretty Puntinak area of Sumartin bay* – hidden coves and beaches – lovely. There are a beach bar and restaurant on the same lane and a short walk around the bay will take you to the little town of Sumartin itself with more restaurants and beaches, grocery store etc. You get free boat mooring with this villa too.
*Sumartin has a nice buzz about it and is has everything you need and there’s lots to explore in the vicinity – some great places to visit by boat too. You can hop to Makarska very easily which is another great place to visit and nice day trip (ferry from Sumartin itself) and Bol Town is nearby which is well worth a visit for the famous beach (go early it gets really packed) and the nightlife. Things to do in the Sumartin area: rent a jet ski, water skiing, banana ride, one of the beaches in Sumartin has an inflatable playground just off the beach for children, you can hire kayaks, SUP boards, rent bicycles and e-bikes and take an e-bike tour on this side of island or even to Bol. There are also private boat trips to go on (to Hvar or to the hard-to-reach coves on Brac for example).
If you need a large villa, then have a look at Villa Nicholina in Mirca (close to Supetar where the ferry gets in), or Villa Tika in Sumartin bay, both with heated pools.
Feeling really flush? Then uber-luxury Villa Mila is free too!
