Hvar Villas
Hvar Island is a well known destination these days particularly for wonderful and cosmopolitan Hvar Town and its stunning archipelago of islands just off its coast. The Pakleni Islands make for a wonderful day trip and area easily reachable from Hvar Town. The town of Hvar is certainly an attractive location in terms of Hvar villas and has attracted its fair share of celebrity clientele – Beyonce & Jay Z, Tom Cruise and Prince Harry to name but a few.
If you’re looking for Hvar villas with pool Hvar Island has an eclectic selection and plenty to offer for a Hvar villa holiday with it’s beautiful, historic town and picture perfect harbour and Hvar Town Beaches, but if you want to get off the beaten track then there are some wonderful Hvar villas in pretty little hidden Hvar bay in the near vicinity to Hvar Old Town itself – these are idyllic but you just have to know where they are! If you need some help with the best places to look for villas, let us help you decide with our guide to villa locations in Croatia.
Arriving to the island by sea is exciting and it’s easy to reach from Split on the mainland. Hvar Town does change throughout the summer season though – if you go in July and August it is bustling with visitors and there is plenty going on in the town with beach bars, restaurants and nightlife! This is peak season and the jet-set are in town! In June and September, Hvar Town is still hot and sunny with plenty of visitors enjoying the ambiance, but its less hectic and busy, a much nicer time to go if you want to experience the real atmosphere of the place. Then May and October are much more peaceful, the ideal time to enjoy the scenery, sightseeing and seaside air…
There are some well located Hvar villas in Hvar Town to tempt you close to the sea and town centre – Hvar villas with pools are a rarity so book early to avoid disappointment. The rest of Hvar Island is quite different from Hvar Town and much more provincial. On the other side of the island, the more traditional and pretty fishing town of Jelsa is a lovely place to stay as a couple or family and has gorgeous sandy bays meandering around its coast. In fact, villas on Hvar also have the best stargazing! According to Lonely Planet, Jelsa has been awarded ‘International Dark Sky Community’ status.
Vrboska nearby is an attractive spot too with its marina and equally pretty pine fringed beaches. The laid back Town of Starigrad is a pretty and an authentic town full of little winding streets and eateries with colourful boats in the harbour. Full of history, a Romain mosaic in Starigrad has recently been uncovered just under the streets of! For the adventurous, head through the island tunnel out to the south side of Hvar Island to little places and beaches like Ivan Dolac Sveti Nedejla and Zavala.
Then there are a multitude of cozy bays and pretty to hide out in and truly relax, with little fisherman’s cottages by the sea and beach apartments, ideal for playing cards, a spot of music and just getting back to nature. Some of these bays are really close to Hvar Town and some are further out spread around Hvar Island but just ask us for advice! These little bays usually have a domestic restaurant close by you can fall into a couple of times a day to enjoy scrumptious locally caught fish and produce. Of course, a Hvar villa holiday wouldn’t be complete without a glass of two of Hvar island wine and olive oil etc and you will relax like never before! Ask us to recommend some Hvar villas for you and we can recommend the sort of place to suit just what you want…
