Villas Mlini – Our Top Pick in this Dubrovnik Beach Location

by Saron Lease 1st April 2024

Mlini Bay is our go to location for Dubrovnik villas – here’s the lowdown…

If you’re looking at Dubrovnik villas, Mlini is probably the most sought-after location for a family Croatia villa holiday. And for good reason! Mlini villas tend to tick all boxes…

Villas Mlini  The Harbour near Villas Mlini

Mlini is the closest seaside “resort” to Dubrovnik Old Town although it’s not a resort. It’s really the villages of Mlini and Srebreno which have merged together into one large bay. All around the bay are villas nestled in amongst the pine trees, a nice selection of restaurants and cafe bars for a drink. It’s perfectly sized, not to big, not too small. There are a couple of more lively bars with live music round at the Srebreno end and at the Mlini end Pirate Bar they always have good jazz or DJ. And of course, the best mojitos.

Most of the villas in Mlini are walkable to everything. So if you want a villa holiday where you can walk to beaches, restaurants and activities, this is your place. There are plenty of water sports in Mlini – kayaking to an island anyone? There are also jet skis, inflatables, pedalos, snorkelling, paddle-boarding. Mlini also has exciting walks; to a bay of abandoned Yugoslav era hotels in the next bay and an old summer villa on the sea edge – there are certainly some interesting sights to discover here.

It’s also beautiful and quaint with great access into Dubrovnik Old Town. Either take a 10 minute taxi, or hope on the water taxi from the harbour and you’ll arrive into Dubrovnik Old Town port in around 20 minutes. In Dubrovnik Old Town there are lots more bars, restaurants and a well known night club – Revelin. The benefit of Mlini, over. say Cavtat, is that it’s so easy and quick to get to Dubrovnik Old Town if you want more nightlife. Mlini is perfect for a villa as most music stops around midnight, but it’s 10 minutes Uber into town if you want to carry on – 35 minutes from Cavtat. It’s also closer to Lapad, Gruz and just really more central for day or night – Mlini is a very convenient location.

Villa Turquoise has one of the best locations in Mlini Bay – just back from the sea, you are steps from the waters edge by Mlini harbour.

There are beaches in either direction and the same goes for restaurants. It has terrific views out across the sea and bay. And its open plan interior is a joy. You see the sea wherever you are and the sunsets are out of this world. This 3 bedroom villa perfect for families or groups of couples, or honeymoons!

Villa Flora, nearby, on the sea edge is also one of the best located villas Mlini has to offer.

Right opposite the quirky little cocktail bar locally known as ‘Gusar’ – or the Pirate Bar, it’s terrace looks out across the beach which is only around 20 metres away. It has a lush Mediterranean garden with pool and lots of privacy. In fact it was a traditional summer house of a wealthy Dubrovnik Republic family so historically interesting too. It has 4 bedrooms and is very pretty.

Next up, Villa MliniVilla Nectara and Summer Villa are within walking distance of the sea edge and everything in the bay so they are great Dubrovnik villas to book for a villa holiday in Croatia. As Croatian villas with pool go, these rentals always get good reviews. Villa Mlini is an especially good large villa and good for multi-generation groups since it has a self-contained apartment as part of the main villa. Perfect for grandparents who want a bit of peace and quiet from time to time!

Another Dubrovnik villa which is perfect for larger groups is Villa Lumiere since it has 2 living rooms and 2 kitchens. Likewise Villa Bellevie which is actually made up of two villas with private pools, it’s a very pretty family friendly Croatia villa rental. Incidentally, this property can also be booked separately as Villa Kim and Villa Tereza as three bedroom villas!

Villa Anamaria is slightly smaller with only 5 bedrooms but it can be useful for groups of 6 or 8 too as it has a flexible space. All three of these particular villas benefit from superb sea views out over the bay and yet it’s still only a 10 minute walk down to the se, beaches and restaurants.

For something cheaper but still within easy striking distance of everything in Mlini Bay, check out Villa Perunika which is a mini Croatian villa- it comprises the ground floor and pool. No one else is on site so you have it all to yourself here and the Dubrovnik Riviera on your doorstep!

If privacy is your thing and you have a larger group then Villa Belvedere, sleeping 12, is the way to go.

A short drive from Mlini Bay and Dubrovnik Old Town, this big villa has flexible accommodation and fantastic views. There’s plenty of space for the whole family or group and a super pool and garden. There’s also a very helpful villa concierge.
