Location OverviewThis Orebic sea edge villa has all your day-day needs are within walking distance. Orebic lies directly across a short stretch of water from the town of Korcula, on Korcula island. Korcula town is well worth a visit and is often likened to Dubrovnik in character. Ferries service the two towns frequently.
Orebic has a pretty, old town and lovely beach at the end of the old town and is named after a famous seafaring family and was the maritime centre of the Peljesac Peninsula – Roman remains have been found here and, until 1806, it was part of the Dubrovnik administration. These days it is the biggest town on the peninsula (although it is not really very big!) and has all the amenities you’d expect in a rural town – bank, farmers market, supermarkets, butcher etc.
It is a stroll from Orebic marina, along the promenade of sea captains’ mansions, to Trstenica beach at the other end is lovely and well worth doing. Trstenica beach is popular with families because of its soft sand and gentle slope into the shallow, clear sea as well as the cypress trees which shade the upper part of the beach. It’s a lovely beach, a mix of sand and pebble with a nice entrance to the sea, and it is ideal for families with small kids as there is a large area which is shallow. It is approximately 1 km long. From there it is only a 10-minute walk into Orebic centre.
There are cafes and tourist shops nearby selling everything you need for a day on the beach. There are plenty of restaurants and bars in Orebic to suit every taste – it is a vibrant yet relaxed little town. You’ll also find tennis courts and a football pitch!
At the other end of the Peninsula is Ston, which is famous for its shellfish (the best in the region) and restaurants which offer oysters as a speciality, as well as for its salt production and wonderful hill fort and wall. It is a pretty town and there’s plenty to do apart from discover ancient architecture! Swimming, water sports, fishing or just drinking the local wine are all available here!
The whole stretch of the Peljesac Peninsula is a very relaxed place to visit with mountains facing the sea, with idyllic coves and vineyards to visit from this Orebic sea edge villa.
