Beautiful St Mary’s Island & the Internal Lakes of Mljet National Park
ST MARY’S ISLAND – NATIONAL PARK
The National Park takes up a large part of Mljet Island and is home to copius amounts of flora and fauna plus beautiful beaches – One of the better known attractions that there are many photographs of are the internal salt water lakes and St Mary’s Island inside the larger lake. You need to walk so comfortable shoes are a must (of you can hire bikes if you’d rather) and the beautiful small lake is accessed along scenic woodland paths and then you can take a water taxi boat the short distance to the large island where St Mary’s Island is located. You can visit the 400 year old monastery on the island and there is a cafe for refreshments. Swimming in the lakes is lovely so feel free to take a dip!
