VILLA SALSA – SPLITSKA BAY, BRAC ISLAND
Villa Salsa is within a small group of villas set on the sunny east side of the island of Brac – surrounded by Mediterranean plants, olive trees and conifers, it’s the perfect place to chill out.
Description
Villa Salsa is a pretty little villa with pool for up to 6 people, ideal for a small family or for couples in a group. The village is very pretty and not that commercial, with just a local shop and a couple of restaurants within a short walk – but it’s in a great location with the ferry port of Supetar just 6 km away. Here there is a larger supermarket, cinema, restaurants and craft shops and numerous leisure activities. Also with ferries departing from Supetar to Split Old Town 14 times a day, it’s easy to hop on as a foot passenger and explore the street markets and museums there, before having dinner out and catching a later ferry back to your pretty little villa with pool.
Villa Salsa is set towards the lower end of the small development, so closer to the sea. It has a large open plan living area downstairs and a lovely kitchen & dining area; this level has several exits to the pool, terrace and gardens, so it’s very airy and light.
Internal stairs lead up to 2 double bedrooms and a bedroom with a single bed, and two bathrooms. All bedrooms have small balconies and from this level more stairs go up to the roof terrace with amazing views of the bay and a pergola for protection from the sun – a great place to sit with a glass of local wine as the sun sets.
There is also a single sofa bed in the living area should you need an extra bed space.
This gorgeous island is the largest in central Dalmatia. Brac Island has craggy shores and hidden beaches, but also boasts wonderful beaches, such as Zlatni Rat (Golden Tongue), considered by many the most beautiful beach on the Adriatic, is close to Bol, at the foot of Vidova Gora. The beach is a natural phenomenon and according to the movement of the wind and waves, its tip moves to the left or right. Zlatni Rat is one of the best Adriatic wind-surfing locations. A free-style competition, which has become part of local tradition, is held here every year and now forms part of the official World Cup calendar. Plenty to explore either by boat or perhaps by bike – hugely popular with cyclists for the last few years, there are so many tracks both coastal and inland to explore.
The sea here is also clear as a bell so very popular with divers. body board enthusiasts and try sea kayaking too – great fun!
When your exploring is over just return to your pretty little villa with pool, open a bottle of the delicious local wine and watch the sun set over the bay from your lovely roof terrace before heading out to dinner in one of the village’s restaurants for dinner (Marija for Pizzas and Vala for grills) Alternatively, head to Postira which is in the next bay and then turn up into the hills to the villa of Dol and treat yourself to some stunning views and delicious food at Kastil Gospodnetic which is a working farm that has a restaurant so locally grown produce abounds – they also make their own wine etc. Booking is advised as they only have a dozen tables – and it’s popular with locals as well as visitors to the island – if you want something special eg the lamb under the bell or the octopus Peka they usually need 24 hours notice. Service is fantastic and usually includes a tour of the ‘Castle’.
